Welcome to the site of the South Texas District Church of the Nazarene. We are a multicultural family of 92 congregations located in West, South, Central, and East Texas. Our district stretches across the western plains to Odessa, south to the Rio Grande Valley, east through the Gulf Bend to the Golden Triangle of Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange, and north to Waco.
The mission of the International Church of the Nazarene is also our mission: To Make Christ-Like Disciples in the Nations.
Our purpose is to equip pastors and churches on our district to effectively spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

VICTORIAN CONDO, 6300 Seawall Blvd., #7102, Galveston, TX
The condo was purchased by the District to provide a place where pastor's could go and take their families to enjoy time away at a reasonable cost. The DAB recently elected to make this facility available to laymen of the church as well as pastors. It is rented at $200 for one week begininning Monday afternoon through Sunday.

Dr. Duane Srader was elected District Superintendent of the Houston District in May 2000 and assumed responsibilities in June. In May of 2002 Duane was appointed as the District Superintendent of the San Antonio District and in 2003 the Houston and San Antonio Districts merged becoming the South Texas District.

Duane graduated from Southern Nazarene University (SNU) and attended Nazarene Theological Seminary. His wife, Linda also attended SNU.
The Srader's pastored five years in Oklahoma and Texas before leaving for the Mission Field from the Houston District in 1971. They were missionaries in the Cape Verde Islands from 1971-1980.
Duane was appointed as the Field Director of the Southern Europe Field in 1994 which included the Azores, Portugal, Spain, France, Itlay, and Albania.
In 1998 a new Balkan Field was organized and Duane assumed the responsibilities there as well. The Church of the Nazarene has work in Bulgaria, Albania, Croatia, Romania, and Macedonia at this time.
Duane and Linda have two children, Deborah Nochols and Michael Srader. They are blessed with seven grandchildren.
Brian Schaffer, Assistant District Superintendent
Brian has served as a classroom teacher, coach, missionary, director of Compassionate Ministries, pastor, and in 2003 became the Assistant District Superintendent for the South Texas district.

Brian was born and bred in Wichita, KS. He graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 1988 with a B.A. in Education and later earned a Master's degree in Ministerial Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University.
In the way of formal ministry as an ordained elder Brian has served in pastoral positions at three Nazarene churches before he and his family moved to the Dominican Republic to serve as missionaries for two years. His most recent assignment as a Nazarene missionary include the coordination of evanglism, church growth and Work & Witness in Panama, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.
In January of 2001, he and his family moved to Houston coordinating sevearl aspects of Nazarene Youth Congress. During this time he established a Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Center, Urban Link. He continues to serve in a voluntary role as the Executive Director.
In August, 2003 he began serving as the Assistant District Superintendent for the South Texas District. He is also the Director of Nazarene Disaster Response for the Gulf Coast Region.
Brian feels blessed to have been happily married for 19 years to Deborah (Cantrell) who he fell in love with while attending college. She is a pastor's kid, and has a passion for all aspects of compassionate ministries. Together they are raising their four children, Bryson, Eric, David, and Sarah.

Marty is a mother, grandmother, Sunday School teacher, and member of Houston Living Word Church of the Nazarene. She and her husband Buddy hve been married 27 years.
Marty worked for ExxonMobil Corporation 30 years. She has her Doctor of Jurisprudence and is licensed as a Texas Attorney in good standing. They have 3 children and five grandchildren.

Bob served the San Antonio District as Treasurer from 1986 to 2003 when the San Antonio District merged with the Houston District. He has continued on as the Treasurer for the South Texas District.
He and his wife Marvis reside in Midland, Texas and have 3 sons.

Sam came to the South Texas District from the TOLD (Texas Oklahoma Latin District) in 2003 to serve as the District Missionary assisting in the establishment of New Start churches. Sam also serves as the senior pastor at Houston Southwest Church of the Nazarene. Sam and his wife Candy have four lovely daughters.

Bernadette served on the ministerial staff at Houston Spring Branch Church of the Nazarene, now Living Word, for eleven years. She has served at the District Office for five years. She has been on the Sunday and Discipleship Ministries International (SDMI) Board for 14 years and for the past 3 years has served at the SDMI Chair. Bernadette and her husband Steve attend Living Word Church of the Nazarene in Houston.

District Children's Ministries Directors
Greg and Kendra currently serve as South Texas District Children's Ministries Directors. They have been members of Living Word Church of the Nazarene in Houston since 1994. Greg and Kendra have been married 18 years and have 2 children, Isaac and Sarah. They have served as classroom teachers, board members, SDMI committee members, children's council, Upwards coaches, VBS Director, and various other ministries.
Men's Ministries
District Men's Ministries sponsors two (2) events each year giving men across the the District an opportunity to get together with other men and their sons for a time to retreat to the outdoors for fun, food, and spiritual renewal.

Senior Adult 2011 District Tour Planned
Plans are being made for a District Tour just for Senior Adults with singer/songwriter Ric Gorden. Ric is an accomplished musician with a rare gift for composing songs that touch every generation in his audience. Ric's selection of music will inclue many of the traditional classical hymns, a mix of familiar South Gospel melodies, and some of the more contemorary songs we all hear each day.
One of Ric's more popular songs was "Ain't Got Time for You Devil."
